Electricity Tariff Design via Lens of Energy Justice

چکیده
Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) can significantly affect the net social benefit in power systems, raising concerns pertaining to distributive justice and equity. Electricity tariff DERs share a symbiotic relationship whereby design of former directly impacts economic efficiency equity system. Current approaches suffer from opaque efficiency-equity trade-offs are also agnostic externalities that both Therefore, this paper develops justice-cognizant framework improves operational savings system without sacrificing distributional equity, encompasses welfare, costs environmental public health impacts, socio-economic demographic characteristics electricity consumers. The proposed is based on Single Leader Follower (SLSF) game incorporating multi-objective optimization problem, evaluated four different structures. SLSF reformulated as Multi-Objective Problem with Equilibrium Constraints (MOPEC) solved by integrating objective sum method for Scholtes’s relaxation technique equilibrium constraints. We compare using 11-zone New York ISO 7-bus Manhattan networks. results demonstrate justice-cognizant, spatially- temporally-granular tariffs ensure increase at lower energy burden

Moving Forward with Electricity Tariff Reform
For the better part of the past century, residential customers in the United States and many other countries have paid for electricity through a twopart tariff that has collected most of the revenue through a flat volumetric charge—that is, flat electricity rates paid in cents per kilowatt hour (¢/ kWh). In contrast, a large share of the cost of producing and delivering electricity does not var...
متن کاملAgentSwitch: towards smart energy tariff selection
In this paper, we present AgentSwitch, a prototype agent-based platform to solve the electricity tariff selection problem. AgentSwitch incorporates novel algorithms to make predictions of hourly energy usage as well as detect (and suggest to the user) deferrable loads that could be shifted to off-peak times to maximise savings. To take advantage of group discounts from energy retailers, we deve...
متن کاملAgentSwitch: Towards Smart Energy Tariff Selection
Homeowners face a major challenge in choosing their optimal electricity tariff by having to predict their yearly energy consumption and then optimise their usage according to the complex pricing structure built into such tariffs. To address this challenge, we develop AgentSwitch, a prototype agent-based platform to solve the tariff selection problem. AgentSwitch incorporates novel algorithms th...
متن کاملHarm reduction through a social justice lens.
BACKGROUND People who are street involved such as those experiencing homelessness and drug use face multiple inequities in health and access to health care. Morbidity and mortality are significantly increased among those who are street involved. Incorporation of a harm reduction philosophy in health care has the potential to shift the moral context of health care delivery and enhance access to ...
متن کامل02 Residential Electricity Demand Management Through Tariff Structure: Agent-based Modeling
Recently, imbalances in the electricity production and consumption in Iran, have caused critical situations at specific times of the year; meanwhile, the residential sector, with a 51 percent share, is the main reason for peak demand crisis. According to the international experiences, it can be hoped that by revising the residential electricity tariff structure, consumption pattern in this sect...
